I'd like to thank Drewski for being part of my interview i loved hearing his story and found some stuff even I didnt know about him! so enjoy guys! and as always if you're interested to be interviewed feel free to Contact me on SL or Facebook ( Tyress Serevi )
give us a small introduction about yourself
Howdy! I'm Drewski Hoxley, aka "The Cowboy" in the ring. Thanks for having me here.
IF you have a Stage/nickname: How did you get it?
My stage name in the ring is "The Cowboy." The name came from a couple of reasons. One of them being that I'm from Texas, and Texas can be known for having cowboys. The name also came due to the fact that I started wrestling in jeans and cowboy boots when I debuted, so I thought I'd give the name a try and see what happens. It's stuck with me ever since.
How did you Find Second Life and what made you join?
My best friend Ben (who everyone knows as Eric Stuart) introduced me to this. We were at an anime convention in Dallas, TX during Labor Day weekend 2009. I saw him checking out PW Insider on his phone. We talked about wrestling for a little bit and he asked me if I had ever heard of Second Life. At the time I had heard of it but that was about it. He then went to tell me he was the owner of the longest wrestling federation in Second Life (he was running the DCWF at that time). He told me a little about how wrestling works in SL and it got me thinking it might be something fun to do since wrestling had always been a passion of mine.
So once I got a better running computer at home I logged on and would watch the shows. I got a better running laptop for my birthday in December so I was finally able to see if I could actually do this.
How did you get into SL wrestling?
*see above answer*
What Made you decide to get into SL Wrestling?
Like I mentioned before I have been a fan of professional wrestling since I was a kid. It had always been a dream of mine to do something in wrestling, so once I heard there was a way to do so online I jumped at the opportunity as soon as I could.
do you have a Dream achievement to accomplish in SL wrestling?
For me it's never honestly been about titles, popularity or getting noticed. The main thing I wanted to do since I started wrestling was have fun, put on good matches and give the crowd something to watch.
Now I'll also admit when I started I said I'd like to prove my worth and maybe get a shot at DCWF World Heavyweight Championship and I was fortunate to have that happen as well, but that's for another story.
As long as I can keep having great matches and continue to have fun in the ring I'd say that all I'd like to accomplish.
......and maybe someday when the Tag Team belts with my wife, Scarlette, lol.
What do you think makes Your Character Special?
When I started I was asked what wrestlers could my character be associated with and I had a combination of four at the time: Stone Cold Steve Austin, Dusty Rhodes, Sting and colt Cabana. I kept that mindset when I first started wrestling. Once I started playing with my character it got to be more solidified.
As time has gone on though I've pretty much been myself in the ring. No, I can't honestly talk that well on the microphone, but I make up for that in entertaining the crowd and wrestling. Plus I don't honestly mind having fun in the ring. Basically what you're seeing is how I would envision myself if I wrestled in RL as well. A fun loving guy who loves to entertain, but isn't afraid to knock the crap outta someone if need be.
what is the name of your finishers and what are they?
I have, oddly enough, three finishers that I use. My main finisher is known as "The Brander," which is basically a running big boot to the head. I've been pretty agile for a guy my size and I always loved kicking people in the head, literally, if need be. The name came about because it feels like I'm "branding" my boot into their skull, lol
The second one is called the Cattle Driver, a Rock Bottom. I always loved that move in particular because of the energy and high impact. The name came about from one of my favorite cartoons as a kid where one of the lines in the opening song was "the sound of a thousand cattle drives."
My last finisher is called Whiskey Lullaby, which is a modified sleeper. Along with an actual sleeperhold I have my arm underneath my opponant's arm as well, causing more pressure to the neck. I also use this move in RL to some of my friends that tend to act rowdy, drunk or if they're just being straight up jackasses, lol. The name came about from the Brad Paisley song "Whiskey Lullaby."
When I thought of the name I had no idea how to use it so when I thought of getting the submission made I thought "Ooooh, that works
how long have you been in SL wrestling?
My debut match was in February of 2010, so a little over a year and a half now.
do you have any Dream Matches?
There are many great wrestlers I've had the honor and privilege to wrestle. Two of them honestly come to mind. I would love to one of these days to team up with my brother from another mother, "The Big Shot" Benja Nirvana. Honestly I would love to face the man that got me into this thing more than anything, "The Phoenix" Eric Stuart. I was supposed to have that opportunity after my wedding but sadly it never came to be. I'd love to step in the ring with him in SL just once. But for now I'm stuck with WWE SmackDown VS RAW 2011, lol.
if you could pick 5 Matches in any Federation which has been your favorites?
Personal favs in no particular order:
1) Resin Galaxy vs Drewski Hoxley for the DCWF Hardcore Title (Wheel of Misfortune 2011; St. Pete Street Fight)
2) Briana Afterthought vs Scarlette Abeyante (this was before we started dating, lol)
3) Derrick Cult vs Sam "The Man" Singletary for the VWE Heavyweight Title (Primetime)
4) Benja Nirvana vs Loody Graves in a Street Fight (Six Feet Under 2010)
5) MadMax Vaher vs Adune Snowpaw (VWE Massacre 2010)
How long have you been in your current Fed?
A year and 10 months
what have you accomplished in SL wrestling?
DCWF World Heavyweight Championship
DCWF/OEW Television Championship
DCWF Hardcore Championship (current)
2010 Rookie of the Year
Competed in the first ever Apple Pie Strap Match.
do you have a Dream Tag team Partner/Stable members?
I'm fulfilling one right now with teaming up with my wife, Scarlette Abeyante. We've teamed together a few times and I've loved every minute of it.
There was a dream tag team that Benja and I thought of. The two of us and we would also have Brakman Wylder, Derrick Cult and Wylde Chylde Vendetta, and we would call ourselves "The Texas Connection". It was mainly set up as a joke but in this day and age in Second Life Wrestling you never know what's going to happen.
if you could be the booker for 1 day and you could pick Any wrestler male or female from any fed who would you pick for the Mainevent?
Ohhh......oh ho ho ho......so many decisions.....ooooooh......
Two come to mind off the top of my head. I would love to see "The Hardcore Dragon" Mad Mike Straaf take on Shinja Ugajin in a Hardcore match.
And one match I would love.....LOVE to see would be "The Black Widow" Misaki Yumako vs "The Hardcore Freak" Jenn Parkin
who trained you?
My main trainer was Celtdan McMahon. He taught me the ropes of the system and got me started.
I can also give credit to Mad Mike Straaf and Scarlette Abeyante for teaching me how to think outside the box. As well I have to give props to Curt Bombastic for teaching me how to string moves, counter and how to write an efficient match.
if you have a top 1 moment since the beginning of your Carrer to now can you tell us about that and why?
As corny as it sounds, it was the night I won the DCWF World Heavyweight Championship. Not only that, but shortly after I asked Scarlette to marry me in the middle of the ring. It was the happiest night of my life in more ways than one.
is there anyone you'd like to thank for being there since you began your adventure in SL wrestling?
I'll say thank you to Ben (Eric) first and foremost for telling me about this crazy world of SL Wrestling. He may not have been there but he loves hearing about all the accomplishments and accolades I've earned since I've been here.
Definitely thank you to my wife, Scarlette, for being by my side, keeping me strong, and sane, lol.
And thank you to everyone that have supported me and have been there for me, inside the ring and out. I wouldn't be here without any of y'all, and that's the cold hard truth.
If you have been in more then One Federation how many have you been in and what was the names?
I've been in DCWF since the beginning of my career (Year and 10 months), and I recently became an announcer at HAWX, as well as manager to Scarlette when I'm able to be there (if RL doesn't intervene....grumble grumble WORK grumble grumble...
do you have anyone that inspires you in SL wrestling? and why?
A little bit of everybody. When I first started really training to be a wrestler I would go to matches and study study study to see what new moves and combos to think of. Everyone inspires me in their own unique way. From the technical wrestlers like Misaki Yumako and Vince Easterwood, to the entertaining guys like Brakman Wylder and Benja Nirvana, to the hardcore people like Jenn Parkin and Tyress Serevi. The list could go on and on and on and on, but everyone hoenstly does inspire me in some way or facet.
Do you have anyone that inspires you in RL wrestling and why?
Probably the wrestlers I model myself after in RL. Stone Cold Steve Austin for being that smash mouth guy with his "go to hell" attitude, "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes for the way he would talk and entertain, Sting for always being the entertaining guy but could get the job done when needed to, and Colt Cabana who honestly proves that you can be as goofy as hell as you want in the ring, which I can honestly relate A LOT with.
If you have a custom Attire what is the colors?
Nothing custom. I've been wrestling in jeans and cowboy boots since day one. Every now and then I wear shorts when I feel like doing something different. When I wrestle Hardcore nowadays I wear a red and black flannel shirt in honor of Mick Foley.
Plus I've tried wrestling tights before.....it just doesn't feel or look right, lol.
What is your Opinion on the SL wrestling Community?
Let's be honest, we've all heard about the drama that goes on inside the wrestling community. Personally all I hear is a lot of people with egos, people that think their high and mighty, people that think they can walk around like there crap doesn't stink, and so on and so forth. I've personally loved every minute I've been in this community, I've met some of my best friends and my wife in this community.
But if I honestly had one thing to say it'd be this: "Shut the hell up and let's wrestle." No drama, no egos, let's just go have fun doing what we love to do.
have you ever thought on leaving SL wrestling?
I've considered it on some occasions. There have been times where it felt like my RL was taking a downward turn because I was in SL way too much. As for right now I don't honestly see myself leaving. I love SL Wrestling too damn much to do so.
Plus part of my SL has gone into my RL so I'm not complaining.
any last words?
WHERE'S THE PIE!? lol
But seriously, thank you all very much for being there for me in this crazy world we call Second Life. I wouldn't trade these moments for anything. It's been good times and great memories and here's to more of them. Yeehaw!!!!!
